Presentation Day - Summer 2022-23 - The Caroline McBride and Andrew Walker Awards

These distinguished interclub awards are named in honour of Caroline McBride and Andrew Walker.

Each season the recipients of these awards go to the best and fairest senior male and best and fairest senior female player (under 16+) as voted by the Committee.

Criteria for these awards is not just based upon performance but also service to the Club, for example junior coaching, helping with coaching clinics, their length of time they have played for the Club and their overall sportsmanship etc.

These awards were established in 1988 and are named in honour of Caroline McBride and Andrew Walker. Caroline and Andrew were tragically killed in a car accident on their way home from an Easter family holiday in Mt. Gambier, both aged 18. At the time, Caroline was studying Nursing and Andrew was in the 3rd year of his Mechanic apprenticeship with an aim to join the Police Force. Both played from beginners (U7) in 1977 to senior basketball age where they played in the same team together in an open age group. They were also referees and Andrew played representative basketball for Nunawading Spectres. Caroline has an older sister Kirsty and a younger brother Andrew. Andrew has an older brother Stephen and younger siblings Cameron and Christine.
